Hello ...interesting that I studied Campbell in an informal class at my local church with a group of other pedagogues ....maybe 30 years ago ....and the studies were seminal influences upon my thinking that eventually led me to reject, whole hog, the entire academic community, and to begin to shape my own hero`s journey, of which Campbell`s teaching was entirely supportive but the heroes I would emulate, such as Ghandi and MLKjr, are not a part of the western white male monomyth at all, they are not hobbits, nor are they children of the cloak closet, nor lost in a galaxy far far away in a time long long ago, nor bloodthirsty Avengers , not even survivors of The Iliad ....I believe Campbell would feel highly insulted and misunderstood if you think thats the only type of life he thought everyone aspires to or even ought to ......
Id like very much to be exposed to more of these types of ideas but I dont have the time to devote to discussion with you all .....
